Torre di Fontanedo

The village of Fontanedo is located on the slopes of Mount Legnone.

In the centre of the medieval village stands an imposing square tower, built with massive walls of local stone.

The Fontanedo tower has a square base measuring about 7.5 metres per side, but its main feature is its entrance.

In fact, there is no entrance at ground level, but to get in you have to climb a wooden staircase, which was removed if necessary to prevent the intrusion of enemies.

The interior is arranged on several floors reached by a staircase and along the slope there are several loopholes through which you can peer at the landscape outside.
